Blast from the Past: How Mifid II is slowly killing the trade

Although recent reports showed Mifid II has helped make savings and improve conditions for end investors, many argue its impact on their activity and the EU market as a whole has so far been overwhelmingly negative.

“There’s a lot of blood in the streets. Non-US banks suffer job losses everyday as a near-direct consequence of Mifid II,” said a managing director at a European bank. “I think we all agree that the financial industry was taking too much money out of the system, but there should also be some safeguards in place.”
